To auction or use a realtor to sell a house?

I’m ready to sell my Fathers house and I’m not sure which route to take with the market the way it is. I know I have to get at least a certain amount out of it to cover costs. I don’t want it just sitting there for months because I have to pay the upkeep. Any suggestions which selling method would be better?

call a Realtor and PRICE IT RIGHT!
If you dont have the money to cover to cost of owning the home while you try to sell it, then I’d look at a auction. I sold a home that way and it worked great. You can still set a minimum amount.
with an auction, you will have to pay the auction company even if the house doesn’t sell, or reach the minimum price you set. I would either sell it by owner (ad in the paper and sign in the yard) or use a realtor. Is the house in a good shape to sell? If not, the asking price won’t be as much of course.
if you do use an auction, you will need, to cover YOURSELF, a minimum price –meaning
that you must not permit an “absolute” auction. An A A can get a price of $4 and you would have
to sell it.

have you tried renting it out? or trading it for one you want?
