Sell at auction house. Get an addon like auctioneer and get a good idea of what the market is like. The only things I ever sell at a vendor is garbage.
Its important to get Auctioneer or an addon similar to this. Generally, you’ll get more money selling things in the AH than at the vendors, but Auctioneer will help you make this decision. To get Auctioneer, go to and click “Install via Curse Client”. Another great way to make money is to skim the AH. People will be stupid occasionally and make their bidding price ridiculously low compared to their buyout price. Bid on these things, especially if they are rare or a trade item like ore or metal bars. Cloth is good as well. Auctioneer will tell you what the items are USUALLY worth in AH and also what they sell for at a general vendor. This helps you to decide whether or not you are getting a good deal. Rugged leather sells especially well, so depending on your skinning level, you can make 20 gold a stack.
ALSO, get fishing, and fish for Deviate Fish. Various internet sites around will tell you the best place to find them. Then, either buy “Savory Deviate Delight” (the recipe) from the AH, or look online to see the best places to farm for it. Every Deviate fish made into a savory deviate delight will sell for 2 Gold, at least on my server. Good luck!
